Being a Buddy
Sammie Vance goes to school in Indiana. She started the Buddy Bench program there. Anyone could sit on the “buddy bench.” It meant that person needed a friend. Read about Sammie’s kindness campaign.
Getting Started
Sammie collected plastic. Her community helped gather 1,200 pounds of plastic lids.
Making Benches
The lids were recycled to make benches. Recycling helps the environment.
Seeing a Difference
The benches brought students together. Many students made new friends. Sammie noticed that her classmates were happier.
Spreading Kindness
Sammie’s benches are all over the United States. They can be found around the world. She recently helped place a bench in Ghana, Africa.
