An Icy Season
Winter is the coldest season. Some places prepare for icy weather. Here are four things you might see in winter.
Snow
Water freezes in the clouds. It turns into ice crystals. They fall to the ground as snowflakes.
Sleet
If the air is cold, rain turns to ice as it falls. This frozen rain is called sleet.
Ice
Rain can turn to ice when it lands. This is called an ice storm. This tree looks as if it is coated in glass.
Frost
Ice crystals coat the grass. It looks fuzzy. This is called frost. It forms when moisture in the air freezes.
