Kids Connect: Charlie Zeitlin

Charlie Zeitlin, 14, California. Charlie interviews change-makers on his podcast. ASHWINI GANGAL

Why did you start the podcast?

I was really interested in what entrepreneurs are doing: how they create businesses, how they help people. Eventually, I was able to have great conversations that people wanted to listen to. We have entrepreneurs, social-justice advocates, and people doing positive things in the world sharing their stories.

How do you find guests?

I think about what I’m interested in and what people would benefit from hearing. Then I read articles and look at websites. I’ll usually email [potential] guests, and sometimes I’m lucky enough to get a response from them.

Did you have any challenges when starting your podcast?

Learning the craft of how to interview people. Sometimes, people think that interviewing is asking a series of questions, but it’s a little more than that. You’re trying to create a conversation, almost a collaboration.
