Not-So-Wicked Witch
In 2014, Disney’s Maleficent showed there was more to the infamous Sleeping Beauty villain than evil spells. Over the course of that movie, Princess Aurora grew compassionate toward her godmother, Maleficent, as she learned more about her. Eventually, the two formed a close bond.
Now the fairy tale continues in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. To protect their magical kingdom, Aurora and Maleficent must work together. But a conflict develops between them. Aurora agrees to marry Prince Phillip, and Maleficent isn’t happy about it. Queen Ingrith, the prince’s mother, intends to divide Aurora and Maleficent even further.
Harris Dickinson plays Prince Phillip. He told TIME for Kids that his character supports Aurora “by going against his mother’s way of doing things.” This, he adds, allows Aurora and Phillip “to rule in a more progressive and positive way.” Maleficent: Mistress of Evil opens on October 18.
