Historical Records is the newest podcast from the media company Story Pirates. It showcases incredible people from history whose stories may be new to audiences. Each episode takes an important person’s tale and turns it into a hip-hop song. Listeners can enjoy the beats while learning about inspiring people.
Broadway actress Nimene Wureh is the show’s host. “The purpose is to highlight people who are underrepresented,” she told TIME for Kids. “People who did amazing things in history.”
One example is activist Claudette Colvin, a young pioneer of the 1950s civil rights movement. Colvin may not be as well-known today as a president or famous athlete, but she changed the world. Historical Records tells how. It’s available on all major podcast platforms.
