Have you ever heard of a donkey that rescued injured soldiers during World War I? How about Rip, a small dog that searched for people trapped under rubble in the London air raids of World War II? These animals and many more are included in Heroes: Incredible True Stories of Courageous Animals.

The book was written by David Long and illustrated by KERRY HYNDMAN (pictured). It features stories of animals whose heroism saved people’s lives in times of war. Hyndman hopes readers are inspired by these incredible animals. “It doesn’t matter where you are in the world,” she told TFK Kid Reporter Ishaan Bhattacharya. “Everyone can still enjoy reading about animals and their connection to humans.”
