Historical Records is the newest podcast from Story Pirates. It showcases people from history whose stories may be new to audiences. Each episode turns an important person’s tale into a hip-hop song. Listeners can enjoy the beats while learning about inspiring people.
Broadway actress Nimene Wureh is the show’s host. “The purpose is to highlight people who are underrepresented,” she told TIME for Kids. “People who did amazing things in history.”
One example is activist Claudette Colvin, a pioneer of the civil rights movement in the 1950s. Colvin may not be well-known today, but she changed the world. Historical Records tells how. It’s available on all major podcast platforms.
