At the Polls

On November 5, Americans went to the polls. Some waited in long lines to make their choice for who would be the next president of the United States. They also voted for candidates in other races, such as senators and judges, as well as on community measures.

Some people cast their ballot earlier than Election Day, either in person or by mail. As of press time, more than 140 million ballots have been tallied. There are more ballots to count, but the results are in: Republican candidate Donald Trump will be the nation’s next president (see “Trump Elected”).
