Colds and other illnesses are more common in winter. But there are things you can do to stay healthy. Here are four tips to keep you from getting sick.

Wash your hands.

Germs live on things we touch. Wash your hands with soap and water (above). Scrub for at least 20 seconds to kill germs.

Eat healthy.

Your immune system helps your body fight illness. Fruits and vegetables strengthen your immune system.

Stop the spread.

Coughs and sneezes contain germs. Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. Your elbow can keep germs off your hands.

Stay active.

An active body is better at fighting illness. Go for a walk if it’s not too cold. Or try exercising or dancing indoors.
