Mission 14: What's Your Review?

With so many books to read, TV shows and movies to watch, video games to play, and songs to hear, it’s hard to know where to start. That’s where entertainment journalists come in. Their reviews and recommendations help people figure out what they might like. Entertainment journalists often get a sneak peek at new stuff, before the public. It’s a pretty neat perk!

Junior Journalists, we want to know: What's your review? Choose something to review. It can be a book, a movie, a podcast, or any other thing you like. Write down your thoughts, or make a video of your review. Would you recommend it to other people? Why or why not? Hear from Junior Journalists

Hamstersaurus Rex was written by Tom O’Donnell and illustrated by Tim Miller. It’s about a school’s pet hamster that becomes a dinosaur and has many adventures with a boy named Sam. The little dinosaur hamster spreads friendship to all of Sam’s schoolmates. I would recommend this book to kids who like animals or exciting stories. I liked this book a lot because it’s cute and funny. I rate it a 9 out of 10! Elaine L., 7, California

Seeta aur Geeta is a Bollywood movie from the 1970s. It’s available on Amazon Prime, and has English subtitles. I really enjoyed it. The movie is about twin sisters who get separated at birth and are raised in different environments. Seeta is raised in a rich family that doesn’t love her and treats her like a servant. Geeta is raised in a poor family, but they give her a lot of love. You will enjoy watching the movie, as it has a lot of humor, drama, and beautiful Bollywood songs. Watch to learn if the sisters get united at the end. Simran A., 8, Michigan

The Vanderbeekers: On the Road, by Karina Yan Glaser, is about a family with five kids that goes on a road trip with their friend and landlord, along with a dog, three cats, and a chicken. They’re all traveling in a van from New York City, to take their dad across the country for his birthday. But there are mishaps along the way. Laney, the youngest sibling, finds out that her older sisters, the twins, might move far away to go to college. In fact, they have college interviews scheduled in California. Laney is worried that home won’t be the same without them. They’re like a second set of parents to her. Laney informs the other siblings of this potential change, and they determine to prevent their older siblings from getting to their interviews.

I really enjoyed this book, and I especially liked the amusing chaos of the large group. I recommend this book to anyone who likes the Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall, or All-of-a-Kind Family, by Sydney Taylor. These books all involve a large family with multiple children and mayhem.
