NASA plans to send astronauts to the moon by 2025. The mission is called Artemis III. It will be the first time people have walked on the moon in more than 50 years. The mission will also put a woman on the moon for the first time.
The moonwalkers on this mission will be sporting new duds. You can see the new space suit here. It is called AxEMU. It was made for NASA by Axiom Space.
High-Tech Design
AxEMU is built with the latest technology. It’s made to protect astronauts from the harsh environment of space. The suit will allow them to move around more easily than older space suits did. It’s adjustable. So it can be made to fit a variety of sizes and bodies.
The space suit has many cool features. It has headlights on the helmet. A backpack holds a life-support system. This provides oxygen for the astronaut.
The suit shown here is dark gray. It will be used for astronaut training. NASA says the final version of the suit will probably be white. That will keep astronauts safe and cool on the moon.
