Can You Set the Scene?
Imagine you’re reading two articles about a Halloween parade. One includes only numerical information: the temperature outside, the number of people in attendance, a ranking of the costumes. The other includes facts, but it also describes the sights and sounds of the parade. These details make a story more interesting. They can trigger your imagination, so you feel as if you were there.
Junior Journalists, we want to know:
Can you set the scene? Halloween is coming up! While celebrating in school, with friends and family, or while trick-or-treating, observe what’s going on around you. Describe it in one scene-setting paragraph. Then have a teacher, parent, or guardian send it to us at timeforkids.com/tfkpressclub or email it to tfkpressclub@time.com. Happy Halloween!
