Escape Artist
Sir Väs is a seven-foot-long king cobra. In English, his name means Sir Hiss. He lives at the Skansen Aquarium, in Sweden. On October 22, he escaped from his enclosure. He slithered through an opening in the ceiling. Staff members were worried. King cobras like tropical places. They can’t survive long in cold weather.
Workers searched the area. They used X-rays. Sir Väs was between two walls. Workers drilled in the walls to get him. But he stayed out of reach.
A week after he left, the snake returned on his own. He was thought to be missing his safe enclosure. Zookeepers gave him a new nickname, after a famous escape artist: Houdini.
