Good Little Monkeys

It seems some monkeys have good manners. A study released in August shows that capuchin (cap-ya-shin) monkeys like to share with friends and family!

Scientists in Georgia conducted the study. Eight female capuchins were given partners. The monkeys were paired with either a relative, a friend or a stranger.

The scientists gave the females two choices. They could pick a food reward for just themselves. Or, they could pick a reward to share with their partner.

When paired with family or friends, the monkeys chose to share. But when paired with strangers, the monkeys got greedy. The monkeys "seem to care for those they know," said researcher Frans de Waal.
